Columbus offers a variety of activities of all sorts and interests going on constantly. We'd like to point out just a few of the landmarks and attractions that make life in central Ohio fun, interesting, and educational!

First, a visit to the Santa Maria, (614) 645-8760, a replica of the ship that Christopher Columbus discovered America with, is berthed in the Scioto River downtown is both educational and entertaining. The Ohio Statehouse (614) 752-6350, after a stunning renovation, is cultural, educational, and fun!

Or, those interested in the visual arts, the Columbus Museum of Art, (614) 221-4848, and the Wexner Center for the Arts, (614) 292-0330, offers up various collections and shows of interest for the serious art lover as well as the browser, and the Short North, north of downtown Columbus, a strip of bars and restaurants, art galleries, clothing and antique stores that is home to the funky, exotic and trendy offers up a once-a-month "Gallery Hop," a combination sale and party that brings out artists, patrons, and revelers in force.

History buffs can tour German Village, (614) 221-8888, by bus or take a relaxed walking tour of this nationally-recognized historic preservation district, or a visit to the Ohio Historical Center, (614) 297-2300, along with its Ohio Village with its small Ohio town re-creation, delights the young and old alike. COSI, Ohio's Center of Science and Industry, (614) 228-2674, is widely praised as education disguised as entertainment and is a favorite spot to take the children for a day.

Another favorite spot to spend the day is the Columbus Zoo, (614) 645-3400, visited annually by over 2.5 million visitors. The Columbus Zoo has received national attention due to its successes in breeding cheetahs, polar bears and lowland gorillas. Adjacent to the zoo, another favorite spot to spend a warm, summer day is Wyandot Lake, (614) 889-9283, a water amusement park with all sorts of water slides, rapids and canyons, etc.

If botany is more to your liking, the Franklin Park Conservatory, (614) 645-1800 boasts over 400 varieties of plants, and is a beautiful and serene showcase.
