Paradise in Technicolor
(c) 1980 by Richard F. Drushel

This India ink drawing/watercolor was created in the fall of 1980, my first semester at Case Western Reserve University. The original is now a proud possession of my good friend and fellow CWRU survivor Jim McAward. He was kind enough to send me a hi-res scan of it so I could put it on display here. Some of the light blues in the sky have faded, and the paper has yellowed a bit; but with the help of Adobe Photoshop, I've cleaned up most of the ill effects of age.

Those of you who were around in the late 1970s, see how many of the commercial references you can find/remember! Most of the writing on the product labels is legible in the full-size (194K) image; click on the thumbnail to see all the glorious details.

Foreshadowing Department: The model number on the Texas Instruments calculator is TI-99D; this was two years before the TI-99 home computer!

Don't Ask, Don't Tell Department: What's that trapeze attached to?
